Cons

  • Terrible control
  • Annoying sound
  • No pause feature

Hazard is a simple little game that consists of one thing: getting the hell out of the way. Many of you have probably already played it, as the game Mr. Space. I’ll go on record right now: skip this game and get Mr. Space instead. Hazard does, however, have two advantages over the original: Mr. Space is played in portrait while Hazard is played in landscape (widescreen, or on its side) and you can actually run. In Mr. Space, when you hold down one of the buttons, he only moves one space. In Hazard, you can freely run left to right. This game also has a jump button, but this where the game falls apart.

The control is absolutely terrible. The character slides around as if he were on ice. This is a game that requires you to be in an exact spot so you don’t get crushed, and this is difficult while your character skates like a damn penguin. When you jump to an area, he doesn’t just stop. Not to mention that the sound effect is really annoying when he skids.

Since this game is pretty simple, and there’s basically just one level, there’s not much else to say. The graphics are okay, but just dull and not very colorful, and the 8-second loop they call music is annoying. The biggest annoyance I have, however, is that there is no pause feature. May I ask you why any game wouldn’t have this option? The pause feature has been around since the 80′s, so why isn’t that featured in every single game since then?

My rambling aside, the control kills this game. If you want to run around and stop from being crushed to death, get Mr. Space instead.
